50 killed after fire at Iraq mall: Video shows massive flame, smoke billowing; rescue ops under way

At least 50 people were killed after a fire broke out at a shopping mall in Iraq , news agency AFP reported. Videos shared across social media platforms showed the five-storey building engulfed in flames overnight, as firefighters battled to bring the blaze under control.

"The number of victims has reached about 50 people, martyrs and injured, in the tragic fire at a major shopping centre," Wasit province governor Mohammed al-Miyahi told the official INA news agency.

The exact cause of the fire remains unclear, but according to INA, the governor stated that preliminary findings from the investigation would be released within 48 hours.
