NEW DELHI: The Delhi high court on Wednesday approved bail for the accused, Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat , who were charged in connection with the security breach incident at Parliament that occurred on December 13, 2023. Both were among those accused of compromising the security measures at the legislative building.
The security breach at the old Parliament building took place last year on December 13, coinciding with the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack.
Around the same time, two others- Amol Shinde and Neelam Azad- also sprayed coloured gas from canisters while shouting "tanashahi nahi chalegi" outside the Parliament House premises.
Besides the four accused, police have also arrested Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat in the case. All are being interrogated in police custody.
The Delhi High Court bench, comprising Justices Subramonium Prasad and Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar, approved bail for Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat. The bail was set at Rs 50,000 each, along with two sureties of equal value.
The court imposed specific conditions, prohibiting the accused from speaking to media organisations or posting about the incident on social media platforms.
The bail approval came after the accused filed an appeal against the lower court's decision that had previously denied their bail application.
