For the 2024-25 NBA season, Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday has won the NBA's sportsmanship award for the second time in his career. He is now only the 5th player in NBA history to have won the award more than once. With his team doing tremendously well in the postseason, having already moved to the Conference semifinals, Jrue has now yet another reason to celebrate.

Jrue Holiday becomes fifth player with more than one NBA sportsmanship award

Jrue Holiday topped the table with 34% of the first-place votes, which was cast by around 400 current NBA players, making him the winner for the second time. He first won this prestigious award in 2021, when he was with the Milwaukee Bucks. Now 4 years later, he has the honor again.

The sportsmanship award is called the Joe Dumars Trophy , named after the two-time champion and the inaugural winner of the sportsmanship award. Dumars won it during the 1995-96 season, and now the Basketball Hall of Famers name is forever etched alongside this prestigious award, that Jrue will receive at the end of the season.

Jrue Holiday gains praise from Boston Celtics president
Jrue Holiday has joined the likes of 4-time winner Mike Conley, 3-time winner Grant Hill, and 2-time winners Jason Kidd and Kemba Walker in this elite club of players to have won the award more than once. Hailing the 34-year-old, Boston Celtics President Brad Stevens said:

“In my experience, some of the best competitors are those who pair a quiet confidence with humility, show respect for the competition with their own preparation and work, and have the stamina to navigate the ups and downs of a season with grit and perspective. There is no better example of this than Jrue. He is the ultimate teammate and sets a great example for those striving to compete with integrity. His game does his talking, and his impact, on and off the court, goes well beyond his game.”

His impact on and off the court has truly been tremendous, no wonder the Celtics star has everyone singing his praise. After such an incredible season, which the team has managed to continue into the postseason, things are only looking brighter for the star player.
