Send Push
The next big update of Fortnite is almost here. Along with it comes the fresh season packed with new content. However, to experience it, the players will need to brace for the brief wait as the servers will go offline for the scheduled maintenance for rolling out the new season. Anyone waiting to jump back in, here is everything you need to know about the May 2 downtime schedule and what to expect when the game gets back online.

Fortnite May 2, 2025 downtime start and end time

The Fortnite servers will shut down for maintenance at 2 AM EDT (6 AM UTC) on May 2, 2025. As per the past updates, the downtime will usually last for 2 to 4 hours. However, this time, with the major season launch, you can expect the server to take a little longer.

The players in different regions must expect the following approximate start time for the May 2, 2025 update.

  • EDT- 2 AM
  • GMT- 7 AM
  • CET- 8 AM

The servers are expected to remain offline for 3-5 hours. Some extended delays are possible if Epic Games , by any chance, encounters hiccups during the update. The players in Western Europe and Japan should anticipate the evening or midday restarts.

After the maintenance will wrap up, the new season will be live. Make sure to keep an eye on the @FortniteStatus X account for real-time updates about the server status.

What is coming after the Fortnite downtime?

The new season is expected to bring the Season 3 Galactic Battle theme. It will introduce the new weapons, fresh Battle Pass and map changes. While the exact details still remain under wraps (until launch), as per the leaks, blaster rifles and lightsabers will be part of the loot pool. Some vehicles like the X-Wings might even make an appearance, shaking up combat and traversal.

The competitive play can see the shift with the introduction of melee-focused weapons. Meanwhile, the casual players will be facing some new challenges and have cosmetics to unlock. The update might even bring new Points of Interest (POIs) to the island, keeping the entire exploration fresh.

Tips before the maintenance

If you are planning to log in right after the downtime, you can expect the possible Fortnite server queues because of the high player demand. Make sure the game is updated beforehand to avoid any delays. While you wait, also check out the patch notes or the community discussions for planning 1st drop.

With a new season just hours away, your wait for sure will not be too long. Make sure you remain ready for one of the biggest updates yet by Fortnite.
