IPL playoff qualification scenarios: CSK, RR out of race, what about the others?

While Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been officially knocked out from the race for the IPL 2025 playoffs , the remaining teams are still in contention. Mumbai Indians (MI) are currently on top of the points table with 14 points, having started off the season on an unimpressive note.

MI's 100-run win against Rajasthan Royals (RR) has boosted their NRR massively. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are placed second having accumulated the same number of points as MI. Without much ado, here's a look at the qualification scenario for the IPL 2025 playoffs:

1) Mumbai Indians: The table toppers need just one win in the remaining three matches which indicates how impressive they have been. MI have the best NRR in IPL 2025 (+1.274) which will hold them in good stead in case qualification is determined by NRR. MI face GT, PBKS and DC in their remaining matches.

2) Royal Challengers Bengaluru: The Rajat Patidar-led side can qualify for the playoffs by pulling off one win in the last four league stage matches. RCB have a NRR of +0.521 which is also quite formidable. RCB will face CSK, LSG, SRH and KKR in their remaining matches.

3) Punjab Kings: The Punjab-based franchise will need to pull off two wins in the remaining four matches. PBKS have 13 points so far and a NRR of +0.199. They will face LSG, DC, MI and RR in the upcoming games.

4) Gujarat Titans : The Shubman Gill-led side has earned 12 points in nine matches so far with a NRR of +0.748. GT need two wins in the remaining five matches. GT will face SRH, MI, DC, LSG and CSK in their remaining matches.

5) Delhi Capitals: With 12 points from 10 matches, DC are also in a comfortable position despite their recent run of losses. The Axar Patel-led side has a NRR of +0.362 and needs to pull off two wins in the last four matches. DC will face SRH, PBKS, GT and MI in their upcoming games.



6) Lucknow Super Giants: The Rishabh Pant-led side has 10 points from as many matches and a NRR of -0.325. LSG will need to pull off three wins in the remaining four matches by a comfortable margin, considering their inferior NRR.

7) Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad: Both KKR and SRH are in a tough spot with regard to sealing a spot in the playoffs. The Ajinkya Rahane-led side will need to record four wins in as many matches. SRH have five games left to play and will need to win every match by a comfortable margin. KKR have a NRR of +0.271 while SRH have a NRR of -1.103. KKR face RR, CSK, SRH and RCB in the remaining matches. SRH face GT, DC, KKR, RCB and LSG in their upcoming games.
