They say Mumbai fulfils everyone's dreams; once you fall in love with it, it makes you its own forever. Actor Sheel Verma, who plays the lead in the TV show Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain, is living proof of this belief. In a heartfelt conversation, Sheel opened up about his inspiring journey in the city of dreams and how Mumbai became his karmabhumi — the land where he found his true calling.
Sharing his story, Sheel said "Mumbai is truly a land of destiny. It tests your dreams before fulfilling them. I remember an elderly man once told me, ‘This land will push you to your limits for 60 days. If you endure, it will give you everything you dream of.’ And those words have stayed with me. Arriving in Mumbai wasn’t easy. I started in a simple MHADA colony, holding onto my dreams through every struggle. But over time, the city embraced me. Six and a half years later, every challenge and small victory has brought me closer to the life I had always imagined. What I love most about Mumbai, and Maharashtra overall, is its vibrant spirit — from the energy of Ganesh Chaturthi to the inspiring stories of warriors like Shivaji Maharaj and Sambhaji Maharaj. This land isn’t just about living; it’s about celebrating life, fighting for it, and earning it with pride. It has blessed me in ways I can’t even put into words."
Currently, Sheel is winning hearts as Jaiveer in Badi Haveli Ki Chhoti Thakurain, where his character often falls for the clever tricks of Chamkili (played by Ishita Ganguly), while his wife Chaina (played by Diksha Dhami) stands strong as his protector, always shielding him and his family from trouble.
