After the release of his 2018 film 'Zero', Shah Rukh Khan took a four-year break from acting before making a triumphant return in 2023 with the hit films 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan'. During this hiatus, especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, he stayed connected with his fans by hosting Ask Me Anything sessions on X (formerly Twitter). Through these candid conversations, he shared glimpses of his personal life, sparking curiosity among his followers. Recently, SRK opened up about how he spends his downtime, admitting that when he’s not filming, he essentially “does nothing.”

On May 1, Shah Rukh participated in the opening ceremony of the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit in Mumbai, sharing the stage with Deepika Padukone in a conversation led by Karan Johar. When Karan inquired about how Shah Rukh spends his time at home, the actor humorously responded that he usually takes it easy. He quoted his father’s wisdom, saying, “Jo kuch nahi karte hain woh kamaal karte hain’ (Those who do nothing achieve wonders)."
A Simple and Meditative Routine
He further said, “I do some household chores, help clean the house, and assist my son AbRam with his books and updating his iPad. I avoid overdoing, overthinking, and overworking. I am usually in a meditative state of mind. When I am not on set, I honestly don’t do anything. Obviously, I make my friends happy, play with my kids. That’s a given. But beyond that I don’t do anything. And like people say, ‘me time’, I take that.”
Lighthearted Banter with Karan Johar and Deepika Padukone
Hearing this, Karan Johar humorously stated, “I don’t know about you cleaning your house when not on set, but the person sitting next to you (pointing towards Deepika), she is always cleaning her house.” Shah Rukh replied, “Yeah and I sometimes call her ki mere bhi ghar saaf karde,” leaving Deepika Padukone in splits.
