Long-time friends and collaborators Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar lit up the stage at the WAVES Summit 2025 in Mumbai, not just with industry insights but with their trademark humour and camaraderie. During a light-hearted exchange, the duo entertained the audience with a hilarious roast, with SRK taking playful jabs at Karan’s parenting and athletic skills.

SRK Teases Karan on sports day training

The moment kicked off when Karan Johar, while discussing parenting challenges, brought up a conversation with his son. “My son once came to me and said, ‘Shah Rukh uncle trains Abram before Sports Day, why aren’t you training me?’ I mean, can you imagine me training my son how to run for Sports Day? Do you think that’s even physically possible? It’s actually quite scary,” Karan quipped, drawing laughter from the audience.
SRK, known for his quick wit, didn’t miss the chance to respond with flair. “I think, Karan, what you should do is, because Deepika is such a wonderful athlete, it’s in her genes, first you come and get trained by us, and after that, you go and train the kids,” Shah Rukh joked, referencing Deepika Padukone’s sports background.

A visibly amused and slightly embarrassed Karan responded, “I don’t know when this turned into a roast, but anyway. Whatever you said, I accept it with respect.”

‘Parent of the Decade’ Moment
Earlier in the conversation, Karan had showered praise on SRK’s commitment to his children, calling him the “parent of the decade.” He said, “He is present for them at every moment, enjoying every Annual Day, every Sports Day… We feel defeated by that comparison.”

SRK’s Next: Father-Daughter Drama ‘King’
Professionally, Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for his much-anticipated film ‘King’, in which he’ll be seen sharing screen space with his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time. SRK, after the success of ‘Jawan’, ‘Dunki’, and ‘Pathaan’, is expected to continue his success run in upcoming years too.
