Rourkela: A 20-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl after abducting her. The accused had allegedly kidnapped Class VI student on April 23. The girl's parents filed a missing person report with police following her disappearance.
During investigation, police found the accused had kept the minor girl at his residence. A police team rescued the girl on Wednesday and took the accused into custody. "The girl disclosed that she was sexually assaulted by the accused," said Pradeep Kumar Naik, police inspector. Both the accused and the girl underwent medical examination on Thursday.
The girl's statement was recorded before a magistrate after she was produced before the child welfare committee. The accused was subsequently arrested and remanded to judicial custody on Thursday evening.
