65-year-old man sexually assaults 2 girls in UP

PILIBHIT: Two girls aged 5 and 6 years were sexually assaulted by a 65-year-old man in Pilibhit district. This incident occurred merely two days after a 5-year-old girl was raped by a man in a village of the district and left in a profusely bleeding condition.

The recent incident happened in an Indo-Nepal border village on April 30.

The matter was reported to the police on Thursday afternoon, following which a govt medical officer conducted the medico-legal procedure of the the two girls at the local primary health centre.

The two girls, who are close friends, went to a shop at 3.30 pm to buy some household items, where the shopkeeper Jalaluddin, grabbed and sexually assault them. The victims narrated their ordeal to their family members and complained about pain in their private organs.

When approached by the parents of the two victims, the accused abused and threatened to kill the girls. Following a written complaint by their fathers, the police lodged two FIRs in the matter under BNS sections 65 (2) (rape of a woman under 12 years of age), 352 (intentional insult intended to provoke a breach of public peace), 351 (2) (criminal intimidation), and sections 5 and 6 of the Pocso Act .

A police team led by the SHO nabbed the accused from a nearby village, from where he was likely to flee.

He was produced before the remand magistrate on Friday and sent to jail under judicial custody.
