GB News reporter Patrick Christys was forced to flee a migrant camp after being pelted with glass bottles in a shocking moment on camera. Christys travelled to France to meet with migrant camp residents but was met with resistance and was forced to make a swift exit.
The TV presenter face significant damage to his vehicle after he had glass bottles thrown at him by angry residents, who swore at the car as it drove away.
Christys said to viewers: "We're going to get out of here. We just had glass bottles thrown at us so that's that." After managing to get away from the dangerous confrontation, he said: "As we were leaving, they started throwing things at us. We got in the car, and they managed to hit the windscreen a bit.
"And this dent here is probably about £1,000 worth of damage, along with some scratches and scuffs.
"But look, I can understand why people might feel offended by someone turning up with a camera unannounced and talking to them.
"Okay, fair enough. But there's an irony there, isn't there? Given what they're trying to do, turning up in Britain completely unannounced and expecting the taxpayer to foot the bill.
"We got away relatively lightly there, I think. Thankfully, nothing hit us."
The video comes after 1,114 migrants arriving in the UK on a small boat this week alone, according to the Home Office. There have been over 21,000 crossings so far, a 50% increase compared to this time in 2024.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy has announced that a new Sanctions Act will kick in on Wednesday, which will give the UK the power to freeze the assets of anyone involved in migrant gang smuggling, as well as the power to ban them from travelling to the UK.
But Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp has insisted: "We must deport illegal immigrants immediately on arrival, it is the only way to end the pull factor and deter crossings."
