Piers Morgan said he feels "so terribly sad" for his former colleague and friend Sharon Osbourne after she arrived at Ozzy Osbourne's funeral. The Black Sabbath legend died aged 76 on 22 July, leaving his wife Sharon and their family completely devastated. Sharon and Ozzy had been married since 1982 and share three children; Aimee, 41, Kelly, 40, and 39-year-old Jack.
Sharon and her children joined thousands of fans at Ozzy's funeral procession in his hometown of Birmingham on Wednesday. The 72-year-old broke down in tears upon arrival and had to be held up by Kelly. Dressed entirely in black, Sharon held her hands to her chest as she prepared to bid a final farewell to her beloved husband. In the Sky News broadcast, Sharon could be seen laying a flower amongst thousands of others before looking over the sea tributes from fans.
Reposting the clip to his X account, Piers penned: "Heartbreaking. I never knew a couple who loved each other more, despite everything life threw at them, or who better epitomised the 'till death do us part' of marriage. Sharon looks utterly bereft without her Ozzy. I feel so terribly sad for her."
Broad Street was filled with Ozzy's fans who flocked to the city centre to pay their respects to the Prince of Darkness. His hearse led the procession through the city, accompanied by six Mercedes funeral cars, as well as police motorcycle riders and a police car.
The street was mostly quiet, apart from Bostin' Brass playing Black Sabbath songs. Flowers were tossed into the road, while other fans displayed heavy metal horn signals in tribute.
Emotions were running high as Sky News' Katie Spencer struggled to hold back the tears while talking about Ozzy's death.
She said: "It's closure really... We called it the summer of Sabbath, but we didn't even make it through the summer before he died."
She choked up before adding: "It's tragic but I think his spirit lives on ... You can tell by the way people are joining together; that's something that can't die ... He said 'Birmingham forever', and that's how we feel."
Ozzy died just weeks after Black Sabbath reunited for their final ever performance, which marked the first time the original lineup of Ozzy, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward had played together in 20 years.
