Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie need to "distance themselves" from their parents who have been disowned from royal life, an expert has said. Although the royal sisters shared a close knit relationship with their dad, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, and their mum, Sarah Ferguson, it is believed cracks in the relationship have started to show.
Andrew and Sarah's latest scandals surrounding their previous associations with the convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, which has seen them lose their royal titles and be evicted from Royal Lodge. It has been reported that while Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, are concerned for their parents' wellbeing, they are also "disappointed", with the relationship they shared with their mum reported to have "collapsed".
While both sisters still hold their royal titles, a royal expert said that Beatrice and Eugenie will need to "distance themselves publicly" from their parents.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams also said that Beatrice and Eugenie's parents latest scandals, including 2011 emails to Epstein which showed both Andrew and Sarah lied about certain things such as ceasing contact with him, could have been "the tip of the iceberg" for the sisters.
Speaking to Express.co.uk, Mr Fitzwilliams said: "Beatrice and Eugenie were famously close to their mother, Sarah, whose ups and downs were chronicled by the world's media, often affectionately. Eugenie did not put up a post on her mother's recent birthday in contrast to previous years. They were both recently out of the country during part of the recent crisis affecting their parents.
"This (the latest scandals) was a worldwide humiliation for Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. The sisters use the titles they were given as they undoubtedly open doors and, with careers of their own, have done some charitable work which has been well received. They also reportedly benefit from grace and favour lodgings despite not being full-time working royals.
"Obviously there will be loyalty to their parents, but what should be especially concerning are reports that the emails which have proved both of them to be liars and led to their disgrace are likely to be the tip of the iceberg."
He continued: "To keep what they (Beatrice and Eugenie) have (including charity patronages), they need to ensure there are no damaging photo opportunities. Whatever they think privately, they need to ensure that they are not photographed with either of their parents foreseeably.
"They must obviously distance themselves publicly from both parents."
Beatrice and Eugenie have not commented on Andrew or Sarah's situation.
While Beatrice was photographed weeks ago visiting Royal Lodge, the home Andrew and Sarah will soon leave, Eugenie has not been seen on the Windsor Estate.
