Sadiq Khan was skewered in a gruelling GB News rant after the Mayor of London announced a 55 per cent hike in fines for fare dodgers across the city. The number of fines issues for commuters on the London Underground surged this month after Robert Jenrick shared a video confronting free-riders online. On May 29, the Shadow Justice Secretary shared footage of himself confronting law-breakers in the capital which has since gained tens of millions of viewers.
In it, TfL staff were seen watching on as fare-dodgers shoved through barriers, while the politician informed viewers that multiple police offers were in the station but "did nothing". He then accused Khan of "driving a proud city into the ground" and "not acting" before taking matters into his own hands.
Now, TfL date obtained by GB News unfer Freedom of Information laws has revealed that the penalty fare notices (PFNs) were handed out 55 per cent more in the month after Jenrick's exposé than before.
Between May 1 and May 28, 1,055 PFNs were issued on the Underground. Over the next 28 days, starting from the day Jenrick's video was released, the number rose to 1,628 - well over the monthly average of 1,093.
The greatest number of PFNs dished out in a day in May was 81. In June, that number jumped to 117. In total for May, 1,150 noties were issued while June's total was 1,588.
On Friday (August 8), host Patrick Christys welcomed the politician onto the show to share his thoughts on the news, where he shared a message to the London Mayor. He began: "Well, isn't it good to see enforcement against fare dodgers finally increase. The law-abiding and fare-paying public, I think, are absolutely sick of rule breakers getting away with it with impunity.

"And doesn't it also show what can happen when Sadiq Khan actually pays attention. I think we've shamed the Mayor of London into doing something for the first time in a long while.
"Now let's see him go after the mobile phone thefts, the shoplifting, the violent crime that's making many, many peoples lives miserable add dragging down this great capital city of ours in London. London deserves so much better, we can make this city and the whole country safe again."
It didn't take long before fans flooded to X - formerly known as Twitter - to share their thoughts online, with many agreeing with the Conservative politician. One user pened: "Khan is killing out capital" as another agreed: "Well, if he's finally doing something maybe he'll start with cleaning up his own back yard first. Better late than never, but don't hold your breath!"
Meanwhile, others were less optimistic, with one viewer pointing out: "You can raise it up to 100% but if you don't have the staff to implement it your just wasting your time." Another agreed: "Easy to raise the fine, he's got to issue it and collect the money."
