The 100 best pubs in Britain have been named - is your local on the list? The list was put together by The Good Food Guide in partnership Timothy Taylor's Landlord, recognising some of the best boozers the nation has to offer.

The pubs considered were nominated by the public between August 26 and September 9. They were then "carefully audited by The Good Food Guide team before being passed to the editors for consideration", the organisation explains on its website.

As it launched the campaign, the Good Food Guide had said establishments with a strong chance would be :

• Beacons of brilliant cooking that maintain the spirit of a pub
• Pubs where drinkers are as warmly welcomed as diners
• Places where customers have room to relax over real ales, a carefully compiled wine list and homemade bar snacks
• Where menus are changing regularly, following the seasons and using high-quality local suppliers

12 watering holes in London got the nod, including The Eagle in Farringdon, which is often hailed as the nation's first gastropub.

However, the vast majority are outside the capital in smaller towns, though most are in England.

The publication also handed out a Reader's Choice Award to the pub with the most nominations. The Broad Chare in Newcastle was the recipient this year, a popular pob in a converted warehouse by the quayside.

In the list below you'll find an array of establishments from high-end haunts favoured by celebrities and royals, to more cosy rural spots.
