Donald Trump appeared in good spirits during a Fox News segment on Monday, following mounting speculation over his health after it was revealed he recently underwent an MRI. The President, 79, joined host Laura Ingraham on November 11 for an exclusive walk-through of the White House after completing millions of dollars' worth of renovations.
In the footage, Trump appeared sprightly and energetic as he guided Ingraham through the newly gilded halls, which created a sharp contrast to recent viral clips that showed him appearing to nod off during public appearances. Those moments, widely shared on X,have fueled rumours about Trump's wellbeing, with some users branding him "Dozy Don", a nickname that ironically mirrors his past jibes at Joe Biden for allegedly falling asleep during events.
One user posted: "Is Trump battling a severe illness? When will his health be properly addressed?" Another claimed: "Why is Trump falling asleep all the time? He's old and clearly unwell. Americans have a right to know!" A third added, "Trump is slumping over in his chair. Is he dead? Or what?"
Despite the chatter, Trump appeared unfazed during his Fox appearance laughing off Ingraham's teasing comments about his opulent design choices.
"Why not silver?" the host asked as Trump showed her around the newly decorated rooms. "You can't imitate gold, real gold," Trump replied. "There's no paint that imitates real gold." "So these aren't from Home Depot?" Ingraham quipped.
"Nooo," Trump laughed. "This is not Home Depot stuff."
Trump revealed he had undergone an MRI scan during a recent visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center back in October. "I did. I got an MRI. It was perfect," the president told reporters on board Air Force One.
Trump, who at age 79 is one of the oldest presidents in US history, did not say why he got the scan, but shared his physician said he was in "exceptional health".
"The doctor said it was some of the best reports, for the age, they've ever seen," he divulged. Asked why he received the MRI, which stands for magnetic resonance imaging, Trump told reporters to "ask the doctors".
Presidential physician Dr Sean Barbabella said in a statement at the time that Trump's appointment was a "scheduled follow-up evaluation" as part of his ongoing health maintenance plan and included advanced imaging, laboratory testing, and preventative health assessments. The president "continues to demonstrate excellent overall health", Dr Barbabella said.
