Two BBC legends have shared that they will never return to their old show for a very "sad" reason. Richard 'Dick' McCourt and Dominic Wood were better known as the double act on Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow on CBBC for four years.
The much-loved children's TV show saw the hosts joined by six children who competed for points in a series of silly and messy games over four years, from 2002 to 2006. Famed for bringing Bogies to the nation and having some iconic guests, the show marked the childhood of many people around the country. However, due to changing times, the former presenters have admitted that the programme could never come back. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Dick told us: "I think, sadly, just children's TV generally is not really a thing anymore. Well, it is for pre-school, like Cbeebies is still doing a great job and Milkshake on Channel 5, but that age group who are a little bit older they have all moved onto social media platforms.
"Children's TV, in that respect, isn't really a part of their lives anymore. So, I don't think there would be a place for a show like Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow, sadly."
Dom added: "It is quite sad because I think Saturday morning TV, whether it be SMTV or Live and Kicking, it was so important for families. Because it really marked the end of your working week and the end of school, and it meant family time.
"It would be two hours of sitting down and laughing, enjoying time together. I think that's really sad that that's not a thing anymore, and I think many people would agree as well, but I can't see that being reversed now."
Reflecting on their time presenting the fun-filled, yet wildly chaotic show, they admitted that it was actually "50/50" with being scripted and improvised. Dick told us: "The script was there with the format and the games that we were going to play, but then you'd kind of just go with the flow, really, because you never fully knew what was going to happen. But that's what made it such exciting TV at the time."
Dom added that they were often "just as surprised as the kids were" at whatever was going to happen next on the BBC show. While producers and crew were fully informed, the presenters were sometimes left out in the cold so that their reactions could be genuine, making the show even more authentic and loveable.

The iconic duo have recently teamed up with Google Gemini as millions of renters facing the stress of moving out. In a playful social series, named Dick & Dom in Da Rented Flat, the pair have been showing how easily DIY can be done using the Google Gemini app.
