Dr. Rohini Ghavri, a PhD scholar from Indore who accused Chandrashekhar Azad, MP from Nagina, Uttar Pradesh, and founder of the Bhim Army, of sexual harassment, has threatened suicide on social media. Currently living in Switzerland, Ghavri has accused the Delhi Police of inaction and the system of siding with powerful individuals.
What is the whole matter?
Dr. Rohini Ghavri, the daughter of a sanitation worker from Indore, is a distinguished PhD scholar who works in Switzerland and runs an NGO. Three months ago, Rohini revealed on social media that she and MP Chandrashekhar Azad had been in a relationship for three years. She leveled several serious allegations against Chandrashekhar, including sexual harassment and cheating. She also filed a complaint with the National Commission for Women in this matter.
On Wednesday, Dr. Rohini made several posts on her X (formerly Twitter) account, threatening suicide
In one post, she shared a photo of Chandrashekhar, his wife, and child, writing, "He's ruining my life and celebrating. Today, I'll consume poison in your name." She also shared private videos, alleging that Chandrashekhar had forcibly bound her in a relationship.
Tagging the Prime Minister, Rohini had appealed for justice.
Two days ago, tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rohini had written in a post that if she does not get justice, she will end her life from the platform of the United Nations. She alleged that due to dirty politics, Delhi Police is not even registering her FIR and the entire system listens only to the powerful people. Accusing the police of not taking action, Dr. Rohini said in a statement, "I met the Commissioner of Delhi several times and gave all the evidence, but no hearing is taking place. Whenever I talk to the Commissioner, he says that there is no order from above to take action. What other option is left for me except giving up my life? In our country, the victim has to die for justice."
