The bizarre incident at Jabalpur railway station, where a passenger ended up paying for a samosa with his wristwatch, has prompted swift action from Indian Railways. The passenger, left with no choice, handed over his valuable watch, but another traveler at the station recorded the entire episode. The video quickly went viral on social media and was also shared on the official X handle of the Railway Ministry.
Taking immediate cognizance, the Jabalpur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) ordered legal action against the vendor and cancelled his license. All vendors at the station have been instructed that any indecent behavior toward passengers will result in strict disciplinary action. The incident reportedly occurred around 5:30 pm on October 17.
What HappenedThe incident took place at Platform 5. A passenger purchased two samosas and attempted to pay via UPI by scanning the vendor’s QR code. During this time, the train began to move. In the rush, the vendor allegedly grabbed the passenger by the collar, insisting that the payment had failed.
With the train departing, the passenger, fearing he would miss it, handed over his wristwatch in exchange for the two samosas. The shocking incident has sparked criticism, highlighting not only the vendor’s misconduct but also the lax licensing and oversight of railway vendors.
