We all believe that every part of the body is important for life. But a doctor claims that a human can live a normal life even without some of his vital organs. According to a report, Dr. Indranil Mukherjee of Northwell Staten Island University Hospital, America, said that not all 78 organs of the body are important. There are some organs which can help a person's life continue even after they are removed.
7 Organs of a woman were removed
Dr. Mukherjee gave the example that seven organs were removed from the body of a woman named Louise Altesse-Isidori in an operation. She had ovarian cancer, which had spread throughout her body. But after the operation, her treatment was successful and today she is living an almost normal life.
Doctor told about 5 such organs without which a person can survive
1. Appendix
It does not have any special function in the body. Scientists believe that earlier when humans depended only on plants, it helped in digestion. Removing it does not have any special effect on the body.
2. Gallbladder
It stores bile produced by the liver, which helps in digesting fat. Even if it is removed, the liver sends bile directly to the intestine. There may be some digestive problems in the initial days, but the body adjusts quickly.
3. Kidney
We have two kidneys, but even one is enough to keep the body healthy. Even if one kidney is removed, most people do not need medicines for the rest of their lives.
4. Stomach
It helps to store and digest food. If it is removed in cancer, ulcers or weight loss surgery, food goes directly into the intestine. Life is possible, but one has to be careful about eating and drinking, otherwise dehydration and malnutrition can occur.
5. Lungs
The body has two lungs. When one lung is removed, the other lung works harder. Breathing capacity is reduced and vigorous physical activity becomes challenging, but the person can survive.
Gift of modern science
Dr. Mukherjee says that it is the amazing adaptability of the human body and the wonder of modern medicine that people can live without many organs. Often organs have to be removed in case of an accident or serious illness, but after treatment and monitoring, people start living a normal life again.
