Following the huge success in 2024 with season 4, Disney Plus previously announced Season 5 filming had wrapped up and was "coming soon", and now it has returned to screens with new episodes dropping every Tuesday.

Starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, this time follows the iconic amateur investigators who are trying to get to the bottom of the mysterious murder of one of the building’s most beloved characters, teased at the end of season four. But dangers soon arise with a newcomer and introductions to the Mob.
With the first three episodes of season 5 available to stream on Disney Plus now, some fans have raised questions over some of the ages of beloved characters, particularly during episode two.
Taking to Reddit one user said: "Lester looks older than Oliver in the present but in the flashback he looks maybe 15-20 years younger. Idk I feel like they casted an actor that’s too young."
Another wrote: "Lester’s age is wildly inaccurate right? The first ep said he was 88 and was there for like 32 years. But when it flashes back to when he first starts in ep2, that is not a 56 year old man who goes on to have young kids."
A third added: "So Lester’s age makes no sense. If he was born in 1948 as he says that makes him 76-77 if the time line matches current years. That means when he took the job he was 45 years old. But the actor they have playing young Lester looks like maybe late 20’s to mid 30’s."
Commenting on the "bizarre" nature, a fourth commented: "The second episode was so bizarre because it seemed so anachronistic and I couldn't pinpoint which time period it was since Lester was young and everyone else was old."
One fan penned: "I think the timeline is a bit sketchy tbh and doesn’t make sense in different ways. Something I’m taking with a pinch of salt, is how much older everyone is looking to what they’re meant to be looking like. It’s because the actors are older than their characters in the flashback."
One confused fan commented: "But it makes no sense in season 1 Lester is 70 or so like oliver. That would make bunny and Uma over 90 years old. Because Lester is around 30 in s5e2 that would be at least 20 years younger than Bunny."
Only Murders in the Building can be streamed on Disney Plus.
