1000-lb Sisters star Katie Slaton has reportedly died, aged 37, with the news prompting fans to share condolences with the family. It comes following the announcement just months ago that she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma.
Katie was introduced to viewers as the cousin of Amy Slaton and Tammy Slaton, whose weight loss efforts are the focus of the TLC show, which launched back in 2020. Amy and Tammy's sister, Amanda Halterman, has now announced that their cousin Katie died earlier this week.
Amanda wrote on Instagram yesterday: "It [is] with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely. She was the life of the [party] and my best friend.

"I know both our grandparents and friends was there to welcome you home. Please pray for my aunt uncle and cousins but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong. Please pray for everyone whom loves her. Thank you all who has come out and supported her. #cancerscks."
Fans expressed condolences in the comments section. One person reacted to the news: "Deepest sympathy & condolences goes out to you Amanda, your family & friends." Another said: "Praying that the Lord holds you all close in this time."
Someone else wrote: "Sending you all strength and peace during the times ahead. I'm so sorry to you and yours." A fourth person commented on the post: "I'm so sorry for your loss Amanda! My prayers are with you and the family."
The news came just a day after Amanda had asked her followers on the platform to pray for the family. She shared a photo of Katie and said in the caption that accompanied it that loved ones were continuing to support her cousin.
Alongside the photo, Amanda wrote in a post on Monday: "Please whisper a prayer for our family as we continue to support [Katie]." She concluded with a message for her, writing: "I am so thankful to be allowed to stand by your side."

It was announced earlier this year that Katie, who appeared on several episodes of the show, had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. According to the Daily Mail, Katie had gastric adenocarcinoma, which the outlet described as an aggressive form of stomach cancer.
A GoFundMe page was set up for Katie in January. Tammy was among those who promoted the fundraising initiative at the time and she asked fans to pray for their family if they weren't able to provide a donation.
She wrote to her followers: "Y'all I'm so sorry to be asking a big favour like this but if anyone can help even if it's a dollar [it] would help my cousin out so much." Tammy continued: "She has been on my show but this is something new [as] our family just found out about her having cancer."
The reality TV star asked that those unable to donate pray instead, saying that it would be "greatly appreciated" by the family. Tammy added in the post earlier this year: "Any act of kindness is and will be greatly appreciated, thank you so much and before anyone asks yes I've donated myself."
