DIY SOS fans 'sobbing' just minutes into new episode as Nick Knowles helps little girl

DIY SOS fans were left "sobbing" within minutes as Nick Knowles and his team rallied to support a young girl battling a rare genetic condition.

The television presenter has made his comeback with afresh series of the show, where he and his volunteers transform homes for families across Britain.

During Friday's episode of the BBC show (October 3), the squad was called upon to modify the residence of seven-year-old Isla. Isla suffers from mandibuloacral dysplasia, a rare genetic disorder that affects bone development and leads to accelerated ageing.

She was keen to achieve greater independence within her Leicester home, and needed furniture and living areas to be made accessible for both her current needs and future requirements, reports Leicestershire Live.

Essential modifications included installing a downstairs bathroom and positioning light switches and door handles at lower heights. The crew also chose to construct a connecting doorway between Isla's bedroom and her mother's room, which would enable them to see each other when they needed to.

Nick and his colleagues also opted to revamp the bedroom of Isla's older sister.

Dozens of volunteers answered the appeal to help adapt Isla's property, with such overwhelming numbers arriving that they formed a gathering outside whilst the family welcomed them.

Viewers were deeply touched by the family's story, with many posting messages on social platforms saying they were moved to tears at the episode.

"Ten minutes in and already sobbing!" one person posted on X, which was formerly Twitter. "Oh man the tears," another viewer expressed.

Another fan chimed in: "#diysos is the reality I needed! Isla and her mum deserve everything the team can do. This is so emotional."

One viewer confessed that the episode was "breaking my heart". "Love this programme, so heartwarming," another fan shared.

"Every time #DIYSOS gets me," one fan praised, adding that it was a "brilliant" show.

"Wish the world would be more like the amazing people who volunteer to help," another viewer remarked on the platform.

"This is so wonderful," another touched viewer posted. "Can't stop blubbing. Isla is a little star."
