West Bengal News: Sacked Teachers Protest Outside Education Minister Bratya Basu's Residence In Kolkata

Kolkata: Sacked teachers on Thursday had started agitation in front of education minister Bratya Basu’s house.

The protesting teachers said that they had given an open letter to the education minister a couple of days back but we are yet to get any reply from Basu for which they were protesting outside the education minister’s residence.

A section of protesting teachers also visited Bidhannagar (North) police station as they were summoned by the police.

Sudip Konar, a protesting sacked teacher who was summoned by the police said that they have taken legal advice from their lawyers before visiting the police station.

Notably, Calcutta High Court on Wednesday said that the protesting sacked teachers can visit the police station and had also mentioned that the police cannot take any strict actions against the teachers.

Meanwhile, the youth wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) visited Bidhannagar Commissionerate to give them a ‘certificate of cowardness’.

BJP youth wing president Indranil Khan said, “When Hindu houses are getting attacked in Murshidabad, the state police is hiding their faces but when the teachers are protesting the state police are becoming brave and are charging batons on them for which several teachers got injured. So, we wanted to give the police a 'certificate of cowardness’,” said Khan.

Incidentally, scuffle broke out between BJP workers and police after police stopped the saffron camp from entering the Commissionerate.
