Thane: A brave 13-year-old girl, Kiana Ingole, who studies in the seventh grade at Birla Public School, was safely rescued by a guard after a rafting accident that took place on May 9, in which Shweta Pushkar Pathak died. There were five people in the raft that day: a total of three students, along with Pathak and a rafter.
Due to water pressure, the raft had an accident, and all of them were submerged in the water. Upon seeing this, the lifeguard jumped in and saved two schoolgirls, later rescuing Kiana, and retrieved Pathak who died.
Kiana Ingole's mother, Vanessa Ingole, spoke with FPJ and stated that no medical assistance had been provided to her daughter, who suffered mental trauma. My daughter's health deteriorated the next day. As her father arrived in Bali, she was admitted to the hospital. My daughter became very fearful after falling into the water and suffered from vomiting due to water entering her body. She was unable to eat meals and had a high fever all day. My daughter suffered mental trauma because her teacher died in front of her eyes.
She further stated that after rescuing her, her daughter called her over the phone and narrated the entire incident. After that, my husband left home, took a flight on May 9, reached Bali, and met our daughter, admitting her to the hospital where she received treatment.
She further stated that even such an experienced person (the rafter), who was unconscious after the accident due to water pressure. Teacher could have been saved if the rafter had been conscious. She further stated that after informing her daughter, she promptly informed the school administration about it.
She further stated that she emailed regarding a complaint containing negligence by the school administration to the school administration and MP Supriya Sule and others.
Ranjana Jangra, the principal of Birla Public School, spoke with FPJ and stated that Kiana's mother has emailed us regarding a complaint, and we have already replied to her via email. The allegations made by her are baseless. On behalf of the school, we have provided all security and supported them completely. We constantly replied to her whenever necessary. Moreover, all the students were brought here safely."
Pathak’s mortal remains are likely to reach Kalyan within two and three days.
A total of seventeen students from the seventh and eighth grades, along with teachers, were on the Bali tour. The deceased teacher has been identified as Shweta Pushkar Pathak (50), who had been associated with Birla Public School for the last twenty years. She taught secondary school students.
She died in a rafting accident in Bali, Indonesia, while on an international tour organized by the school. On Monday, BK Birla Public School issued a press release mentioning the untimely and tragic demise of their teacher, Shweta Pushkar Pathak, in an unfortunate accident during the trip to Bali, where she was accompanying secondary school students. All students on the trip are safe.
Upon receiving information about the tragedy, Principal Ranjana Jangra and her team, along with Pathak’s husband, reached Bali and are providing all necessary support and assistance for the repatriation of her body from Bali to India.
