Nalgonda (Telangana): In a shocking incident that unfolded at the Nalgonda RTC bus stand on Sunday, a 15-month-old boy was found abandoned by his mother, who allegedly eloped with a man she met through Instagram. The child, later identified as Dhanush, was spotted crying alone by depot staff and concerned passersby, who immediately alerted the police.

According to a report by the New Indian Express, Sub-Inspector V Saidulu of the Two Town Police Station, the woman, identified as Naveena, a married resident of Hyderabad, left her toddler at the bus stand and fled on a motorcycle with a man reportedly hailing from the Old City area of Nalgonda. Preliminary investigations revealed that Naveena had developed a romantic relationship with the man through Instagram and had made up her mind to leave behind her husband and child to be with him.

CCTV Footage Shows Woman Abondoning Child
CCTV footage from the bus depot provided crucial evidence. The visuals showed Naveena walking away from the crying child, who was later seen being noticed by bystanders and bus stand staff. The same footage also captured her getting on a bike and riding off with the man. In a heartbreaking moment during the investigation, when the footage was shown to the child, he called out “Mummy” upon seeing his mother on the screen.

Using the visual evidence, police tracked down the vehicle used in the escape. The registered owner of the motorcycle revealed that the bike had been lent to a friend, Naveena’s lover, on the day of the incident. This lead helped the authorities confirm the identity of the man and uncover the social media connection that led to the woman’s drastic decision.
Following this, the police called in Naveena, her paramour, and her husband for counselling. After thorough questioning and intervention by authorities, custody of the 15-month-old boy was handed over to his biological father.
