Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A grand Kanwar Yatra commenced on second Monday of the sacred month of Sawan. Over one lakh Kanwariyas embarked on a pilgrimage with a powerful environmental message.
Participants, carrying holy Narmada water in one Kanwar and a plant in the other, pledged to plant 1.25 crore Dev Vriksha (plants), merging devotion with nature conservation.
Extensive arrangements by district administration ensured security and smooth traffic flow, while schools observed a holiday. This unique blend of faith and ecological commitment earned the Sanskar Kanwar Yatra recognition in both the Golden Book of Records and Asia Book of Records, as Central India's largest and most significant Kanwar Yatra.
Bhuteshwar Mahadev: A 6th-Century Sacred Gem In The Heart Of Madhya Pradesh's ChhatarpurYatra is more than just a journey; it represents unwavering devotion, deep faith and selfless surrender to Lord Shiv. Devotees bear the physical strain of walking long distances with the kanwar on their shoulders, avoiding letting it touch the ground at any point — a practice seen as a form of religious penance or tapasya. With chants of “Bam Bam Bhole” echoing in the air, devotees walk toward their chosen Shiv temples to offer the sacred water on the Shivlinga.
