The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Business Correspondent attached to the Punjab National Bank (PNB), Bilsi Branch, Budaun (Uttar Pradesh), for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹8,500 from a complainant.
A case was registered by the CBI on April 30, 2025, against the accused on allegations that he demanded an undue advantage of ₹15,000 from the complainant to allow a withdrawal from the joint Kisan Credit Card (KCC) account of the complainant's uncle. After negotiations, the accused agreed to accept ₹8,500.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe. During post-trap proceedings, it was revealed that the individual was a Business Correspondent associated with PNB's Bilsi Branch.
He was arrested on April 30, 2025, and will be produced before the Court of the Learned Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (CBI Court No. 3), Lucknow, on May 1, 2025.
The investigation is ongoing.
