As tensions remain high along the Line of Control (LoC) following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Pakistan Army Chief General Asim Munir on Thursday said that the country will have a “swift, resolute, and notch-up response” to any potential military action by India.

The Indo-Pakistan border, has, for over week now, seen escalating tensions, after a terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam left 26 civilians dead and several others injured. India has accused Pakistan-based terror outfits of orchestrating the attack, and New Delhi has demanded accountability from Islamabad.

“Any military misadventure by India will be met with a swift, resolute, and notch-up response,” Reuters quoted the Pakistan Army Chief as saying.

He added that while Pakistan “remains committed to regional peace,” the nation is “prepared to safeguard national interests at all costs.”

Indian officials have maintained that the country reserves the right to respond decisively to cross-border terrorism. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh earlier held a conversation with US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth, informing him of Pakistan’s “history of supporting, training and funding terrorist organisations.”

India has also responded strongly to recent ceasefire violations across the LoC. The Indian Army also retaliated to unprovoked Pakistani firing in the Kupwara and Poonch sectors on the night of April 27–28.

Earlier this week, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan held a hotline conversation to discuss the situation along the border.

Meanwhile, PM Modi has given Indian armed forces, the 'full operational freedom' to respond and decide timing of Pakistan's actions.
