Moreover, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also extended Nuakhai greetings to the people of the state and described it as a symbol of the glorious agricultural culture and traditions of Odisha. Chief Minister Majhi also highlighted the cultural significance of Nuakhai Bhetghat, which strengthens harmony and brotherhood.
Nuakhai is an agricultural festival celebrated by the people of Western Odisha in India. It holds significant importance for farmers and the agricultural community. On this auspicious day of Nuakhai, the farmers offer new grain to the deity to welcome the new crop. After having the new rice as the offering to the God, later in the afternoon, people enjoy themselves organising dance, games, etc. The festival is held the day after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Different districts of western Odisha, including Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Bargarh, Subarnapur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, and Boudh, celebrate the Nuakhai festival with great pomp and gaiety.
Meanwhile, PM Modi on Wednesday extended greetings on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi on Wednesday. In a post on X, PM Modi prayed for the well-being and prosperity of all on the auspicious occasion.
"Heartfelt Ganesh Chaturthi wishes to all of you. May this sacred occasion filled with devotion and faith bring auspiciousness to everyone. I pray to Lord Gajanana that He blesses all His devotees with happiness, peace, and excellent health. Ganpati Bappa Morya!," the Prime Minister wrote.
Vinayak Chaturthi, also known as Vinayak Chavithi, is a festival that marks the worship of Lord Ganesha as the god of new beginnings and remover of obstacles. Devotees across India and abroad celebrate his wisdom and intelligence with decorated homes and pandals, prayers, music, and vibrant processions. (ANI)
