Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 8 (ANI): Telangana Congress leader Sama Ram Mohan Reddy on Wednesday expressed confidence that the Telangana High Court will deliver a favourable verdict on the state government's decision to increase Backwards Class (BC) reservations in local bodies to 42 per cent.
Speaking to ANI, Reddy said, "We have passed bills (regarding the 42 per cent reservation for BCs) which were forwarded to the governor and are pending today before the President of this country. We requested them to be added to Schedule 9 of the Constitution by amending it."
He further said, "We have issued a GOMs (Government Order on Matters) No. 9, providing a reservation of 42 per cent to the BCs.The final arguments are going to conclude today, and we expect a very positive outcome from the High Court, so that it will help BCs to go with a 42 per cent reservation."
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday held a crucial meeting at his residence to discuss the issue of BC reservations.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, State Congress in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Vakiti Srihari, and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
According to the CMO, the discussions focused on finalising the strategy and arguments to be presented before the Telangana High Court during the hearing on the BC reservation matter.

The Telangana government's reservation bill aims to provide 42 per cent reservation to Backwards Classes in local body elections as well as in education and employment sectors, reflecting the demographic strength and longstanding demand of marginalised communities.
On September 26, the state government issued an order providing 42 per cent reservation of seats and positions in local bodies for Backwards Classes. (ANI)
