Millions of passengers across the country book train tickets daily. Many book tickets online through their IRCTC accounts. The Railways recently changed the rules, making Aadhaar linking to your IRCTC account mandatory for Tatkal ticket booking.
The Railways has now implemented a new rule for booking tickets using an IRCTC account. If you need a Tatkal ticket, your IRCTC user profile must be verified with Aadhaar. This new rule is required for online Tatkal booking.
If you haven't yet authenticated your IRCTC account with Aadhaar, you won't be able to book Tatkal tickets. Therefore, it's important to complete this process immediately.
You can use the website or mobile app to link your Aadhaar to your IRCTC account. To do this, first log in to your IRCTC account using your password and user ID. Next, go to the My Account section.
Select the Authenticate User option, then enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number. Accept the declaration and click Send OTP. Enter the OTP received on your mobile number and click Verify.
After this process, your IRCTC account will be linked to your Aadhaar. This means you can book Tatkal tickets online from your IRCTC account. Furthermore, after Aadhaar authentication, you also get the first opportunity to book tickets.
