Every day, lakhs of people travel by train in India. Long-distance trains take several hours to three days. In such a situation, every passenger is worried about food. Many people take food from the vendor at the station or order from the train pantry. But many people still do not know what price the railways have fixed for food and what is available on them.
The Railway Ministry has recently given complete information about this to the passengers on its official social media account. The ministry has clearly stated the rate and menu of the veg thali.
How much will the food cost on the train?
The railways have said that the price of the veg meal (standard casserole) available at the station is Rs 70. On the other hand, if you order food while sitting on the train, then its price will be Rs 80.
What will be on the menu?
In the standard veg thali of railways, you will get 2 parathas or 4 rotis (100 grams), plain rice (150 grams), dal or sambhar (150 grams), vegetable (100 grams), curd (80 grams), and pickle (12-gram packet).
Railways has said that this food is nutritious as well as budget-friendly. You can take it at the station as well as order it on the train.
If the pantry person asks you for more money, complain.
If a vendor or pantry person asks you for more money or gives less or inferior food than the menu given in the thali, then you can show this official message of the railways. If even after this, they do not listen to you, then you can complain to the railway helpline or online platform.
People traveling by train should know this thing.
Often, passengers are worried about the food in the train or at the station. Many times, they are overcharged or the food is not right. Railways has shared this information so that common people can get the right food at the right price and no one cheats them.
If you are also going to travel by train, then this time when you buy food, do remember this thing. This will not only save you from unnecessary expenses, but you will also be able to speak about your rights without hesitation if needed.
